We regularly organize cooking afternoons for the children – little highlights in their daily routine that
everyone looks forward to. We intentionally choose menus that require lots of preparation and activity – like vegetarian burgers, where there’s plenty to chop, mix, season, and fry. From the youngest child to the oldest teenager – everyone joins in. And everyone *wants* to join in: cutting vegetables, frying ingredients, tasting, setting the table – even cleaning up. We make sure there’s something for each child to do. Often the kids try dishes they’ve never eaten before – and are surprised how delicious home-cooked food can be. At the end, we all eat together – gathered around one big table, in a relaxed atmosphere. There’s laughter, second helpings, and lots of praise. But it’s about more than just cooking: the children discover
new things, build stronger bonds, and experience what it means to be part of a caring community.
